Barbie

We are starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel in terms of movies we purchased on Black Friday 2023. Barbie is one of those movies we knew had all kinds of controversy surrounding it. Hollyhate triples down on their rebellion against God, traditions, and the family in Barbie. There are so many cringe moments within Barbie. Then later in the movie I yearned for the cringe moments.

There will be spoilers in this review of the Barbie movie. It took us 114 minutes to watch Barbie from start to finish. There are no end credit scenes within Barbie. The issues families will have with Barbie are bad language, lack of attire, enticement to lust, sexual content, a ghost, and more. Barbie is easily a part of the war on men. Hatred of capitalism, God, the system God put in place for humanity and more are thick in Barbie.

Barbie is having a wonderful day every single day in this movie. She starts to think about things like death for example. She goes to weird Barbie for advice when her feet go flat instead of staying like she is in high heels. Barbie learns she must go to the real world from their fantasy plastic world and find the little girl that is playing with her. Ken tags along.

The real world is not like how Barbie imagined it. In the fantasy Barbie world women are in charge of everything, and men are just sort of there being oppressed. Ken learns in the real world that men are put into positions of power by God. Men are the head of the household. Men rule in many areas of the real world. Women are a complete mess in the real world. Ken brings the idea of God putting men in charge of things (minus referencing God), and it changes the fantasy world.

Barbie comes back to a changed fantasy world and completely breaks down. Barbie cannot handle it if men are in charge. So Barbie and two humans (mother and a daughter) work to free all the different Barbie's from this idea. They then use deceit, lies, backstabbing, and other under handed means to change their world back. I found it interesting that women used all of these mind games to manipulate the men in this movie.

In the end the Kens are defeated and somehow go back to being just there and the women take control again in Barbie. The ghost allows Barbie to become a human and move to the real world. The hatred against men is deep and real in Barbie. The implied hatred of God and the system He put in place for us is also running rampant in Barbie. The lies about women can have it all (job, family, career, etc.) are also present in Barbie.
