Black Adam

Noah and I recently watched Black Adam on Blu-ray. I was able to
purchase this movie on Black Friday 2023 for a decent price. I know
there are some controversies surrounding this movie. There were multiple
characters that were race swapped. Dwayne Johnson released misleading
numbers on how the movie was doing. Black Adam did poorly at the box
office. I do not know if the home release will help the studio much or
not.
There will be spoilers in this review. I do not know all of the origins
of Black Adam in the comic books. I did find what was done in this movie
rather interesting. The son was a hero that stopped the evil king from
using the demon crown. The mother was killed, and the father was near
death. So the son with the powers of Shazam transferred the power to
save his father. Then the son is murdered right in front of him.
Black Adam is no longer the hero, and winds up being imprisoned by the
wizards. When the country of Kahndaq is in trouble thanks to Intergang
this mother goes to the mountain to retrieve the old crown and to
release Black Adam. She thinks Black Adam is in his tomb waiting for the
time when he must return to save his people. Ah those myths and legends
that so many people believe.
The issues families can have with Black Adam are violence, bad language,
magic, blood, gore, false gods, reincarnation and more. There are plenty
of interesting special features included on the Blu-ray disc of Black
Adam. There is also some humor within Black Adam. Doctor Fate is a
fantastic character in Black Adam. Atom Smasher is another wonderful
character in Black Adam.
Teth Adam (aka Black Adam) realizes that he needs to stand down. He has
all these powers and all he does is hurt and kill people. So he steps
down only to be needed near the end of the movie. Doctor Fate frees him,
and he helps the Justice Society of America (JSA) save the day and the
world. The end credits scene with Superman is fantastic in Black Adam.
It makes me yearn for a sequel.
I feel that Dwayne Johnson did a good job in Black Adam. I found the
story interesting and compelling. Black Adam does get a bit on the dark
side with the anti-hero killing so many people. Hawkman is horrible in
Black Adam. Cyclone is an after thought in Black Adam. There is a theme
that these people in this poor countries are not cared about by
Americans. Although we send how many hundreds of millions of dollars to
all these countries?
