Cars #4

Joyous day that I have the time, and ability to read and review one of the comic books Noah found when he cleaned his room. This time it is Cars #4. This is another Boom Kids title. Man I am bummed that Boom does not do these anymore. There are twenty-two pages of comic book content within Cars #4. Then we have the best letters to Boom Kids, and finally some advertisements. When Cars #4 was released it cost $2.99.

There will be spoilers in my review of the Cars #4 comic book. Cars #4 starts out with Lightning and Mater spending time in the fields and tipping the tractors. They do that until Frank comes chasing them away. They get into town and see Lizzie is polishing the Stanley's Cup. There is a bit of humor there as Lightning asks if that is the hockey trophy. Of course it is not. Instead it is a trophy for a cross country race.

The interesting thing about this race is two cars must do it together. So the cars must go in pairs of two in Cars #4. The characters decide they need to do this race. So Lightning and Mater team up. Flo and Sally team up in Cars #4. Mack and Gray team up in Cars #4. Ramone and Fillmore also team up. Chick and Bubba team up in Cars #4 as well. That is all of the teams racing in Cars #4.

The race starts in Cars #4 but it does not end. Lightning and Mater get in first place in Cars #4. Then they come across a trap laid by Chick Hicks. Those flashy race cars pretend to need help, and get Mater tied up to a cactus tree. Everyone passes the duo while Lightning is trying to get Mater free. They also learn a valuable lesson about stopping and helping others. It was an obvious trap they should have avoided.

Cars #4 has a bit of commentary about progressive politics. This is in regards to Sally and Flo racing and being girls. They are mocked a bit by some of the boys. Other characters are supportive of women competing against men. The bad characters use deceit and lies to try and get ahead in Cars #4. I hope Mater and Lightning can come from behind and win this race. I will find out after reading the next couple of issues. I hope we have the end of this race.
