Destro #5
SCORE: 68
The G.I. Joe Energon Universe is getting stranger and stranger. At
the same time there are plenty of things to like about Destro #5. This
comic book cost me $3.99. There are twenty-two pages of comic book
content within Destro #5. There is also one letter page, and a five page
preview of G.I. Joe #1. This new G.I. Joe series is going to be very
different. There are characters in weird places, and all kinds of
redefinitions.
There will be spoilers in my review of the Destro #5 comic book. The
issues families will have with Destro #5 are violence, blood, and more.
The Twins are showing Cobra Commander their new acquisition. Destro
shows up to take back his company. There is a fight but Destro has
everything planned out very well. Cobra Commander just stands there
observing the fight in Destro #5.
The BATs are still a problem in Destro #5. They are not able to be
controlled. The AI is also used to help Destro in Destro #5. Can you
guess the reward the AI receives at the end of Destro #5? Destro
launches a nuclear missile into space and blows up the satellite that
the AI is on. I think that means Destro destroyed it, but this is comic
books so maybe it downloaded itself to a backup or something.
Destro wins the fight and then forgives the twins in Destro #5. I loved
to see this moment of forgiveness by Destro. He understands their desire
for power and he can respect that. Destro then tells them to leave.
Destro wants perpetual war. Destro also plans on overthrowing Cobra
Commander at some future date. I suppose that will happen in the G.I.
Joe comic book at some point.
Darklon faces a heavy punishment in Destro #5. Destro gave his cousin a
country and Darklon sold off his company. I am curious about the legal
terms there. If the twins lose what they paid for does the money return
to them? Destro #5 did not cover that aspect. Destro #5 is the last
issue in this series. I feel like Destro #5 ended it at the right point
in time. The story telling was fast and furious but it did not need to
be stretched out anymore.
