Garfield #14

Kaboom Studios did quite a few of these Garfield comic books. I am thankful Noah found some when he cleaned his room. I just keep churning through the content I have in my pile. The cover for Garfield #14 has little to do with what is actually in the comic book. Garfield is holding Oddie, who is holding Nermal and she hits Jon in the head with the volleyball on a sand volleyball court. Jon's girlfriend is in the back all freaked out.

There will be spoilers in my review of the Garfield #14 comic book. There are two stories within Garfield #14. The first story is Red Hot Holiday. That story is twelve pages long. The second story in Garfield #14 is The Late Jon Arbuckle. The second story is ten pages long. There are also four pages of the Adventure Time 2013 Annual in a special preview. Garfield #14 cost us $3.99 back in the day.

Mr. Payne is an interesting character in the first story in Garfield #14. Mr. Payne pretty much hates everyone and everything. Garfield shows him all of these things trying to find something old Mr. Payne will like. Nothing works. Santa Claus gets a visit from an elf that Mr. Payne deserves a second chance. Sure he is on the naughty list, but give him the presents anyways. So that happens and Mr. Payne is all happy. Odd moral and ethic there.

The second story within Garfield #14 has much worse art. The storyline is much more interesting to me though. Jon is late for everything. He can't get dinner on time. Jon is late for his dates. Jon is late for his work. Jon is late for each and everything. Garfield takes Jon to a specialist that talks to him, and suddenly he is early for everything. Jon even pays the man right then and there. How did that work exactly?

There are a few bits of humor within Garfield #14. I liked the part where it was so hot that the ice cream truck was melting. Not just the ice cream, but the entire truck. Garfield even laid on a block of ice. In the second story the man Jon went to for help was funny about when Jon was supposed to be there and when he actually arrived. Garfield #14 is a generally cute comic book.
