Garfield #23

Garfield #23 comes to us from March in the year of our Lord 2014. Garfield #23 is over ten years old at the time of this review. I love the George Washington crossing the Delaware like cover for Garfield #23. The same format for Garfield #23 is used as was in previous Garfield comic books. We get two stories and a few extras in Garfield #23. I will go over that in just a moment.

There will be spoilers in my review of the Garfield #23 comic book. The credits for Garfield #23 can be found on the back of the front cover. The first story in Garfield #23 is twelve pages long. Then we have a second story that is ten pages long. There is a page of Garfield Sunday Classics, and then four pages of Garfield one shots that remind me of memes for some strange reason.

The first story is about Swifty. This cat is billed as the fastest cat there is. They even put out a challenge to anyone that can beat Swifty. Garfield is volunteered for this race. Can you guess how Jon will get Garfield to run? The idea is to offer Garfield food and he will come running faster than any other cat on the planet. The owners of Swifty try to sabotage Garfield by feeding him before the race.

The second story in Garfield #23 is entitled Malade D'Amour. I think that means Lovesick. The art is horrible in this second story. Another theme I have seen in a lot of these Garfield comic books. A new neighbor moves in and she is rather manipulative. She convinces Jon to move all these boxes to help her move in. Garfield meets the cat with a French accent and winds up in a competition.

Garfield keeps losing to this other cat when it is brawn based. Garfield then uses his brain to win a competition. Garfield decides this female cat is too much trouble, and too much effort. Jon also runs away from the lady. Jon has to hear about it from his girlfriend though. The Sunday comics are clever, and the memes can be fun. The Kaboom coming in May is also interesting in Garfield #23.
