Godzilla Minus One
SCORE: 72
Noah found that Godzilla Minus One was on Netflix. It was his movie
night pick so he decided we would watch this movie. This movie is one
hundred and twenty-five minutes long. It was dubbed into English. The
mouths of the actors do not match the words being spoken in Godzilla
Minus One. That is fine. I prefer to hear it in English over having to
read the entire movie. This is one of the strangest Godzilla movies I
have ever seen. I am still not sure what is the minus one part either.
There will be spoilers in my review of the Godzilla Minus One movie. I
will probably try to get a physical copy at some point in the future
when prices come down. The issues families can have with Godzilla Minus
One are violence, blood, bad language and more. A kamikaze pilot that
never died blames himself for the Japanese losing the war. As if his one
plane could have stopped all of the US bombers. Other characters in this
movie also blame him.
Koichi Shikishima lands his plane on Odo Island for repairs. While he is
there Godzilla attacks. At first the Godzilla in Godzilla Minus One is
about the size of a T-REX. I think the US bomb tests made it grow really
large and allow it to shoot some blue laser beam out of its mouth.
Koichi is supposed to shoot Godzilla with his plane to save the
mechanics on the island. He freezes and almost all of them die.
Koichi returns to Japan to find his parents dead, and winds up
supporting Noriko Oishi and an orphaned baby Akiko. They live together
but the movie is clear nothing happens. Koichi is encouraged by others
to marry her, but he resists. He continues with his survivor guilt and
feeling like he does not deserve anything nice. Koichi finds work
destroying mines around Japan once World War II is complete.
Godzilla eventually returns in Godzilla Minus One. It now wants to
attack Japan and destroy cities. A daring plan is devised to destroy
Godzilla. It eventually works and everyone survives. It looks like
Koichi and Noriko may finally get married and start their own family
near the end of Godzilla Minus One. Like I said before this is one of
the strangest Godzilla movies I have ever seen. All about how bad the
Japanese people had it after the war ended. The war they started in case
you forgot.
