In the Groove
SCORE: 68
Recently I finished playing through In the Groove on the Playstation
2. This music video game works with the old dance pads. Families can
also play In the Groove with a controller. I recorded the songs in In
the Groove and we are releasing them on our video sites. With all of our
current wires and setup it is not the easiest to play games like In the
Groove with the dance pad.
In the Groove claims to have over seventy songs. There are five
difficulty settings for each of the songs. I found In the Groove can be
challenging even on the lowest difficulty setting. I am not sure if the
game was lagging or would purposely slow down in songs in In the Groove.
I had over nine hundred in a combo and the arrow slowed down right
before it would reach the spot to press. It was going pretty fast so I
had to anticipate its arrival based on speed. I wound up missing it
because of the game changing the speed at that point in time.
The songs in In the Groove are pretty much techno. We have released a
few of the videos on YouTube and we are getting quite a few copyright
claims on the songs. Our video copyrights are considered not as
important as someone with an audio copyright on videos. Families can
enjoy multiple different modes in In the Groove. There are fitness modes
to help families lose weight.
According to the back of the case of In the Groove, it was in the arcade
as well. Plenty of songs in In the Groove are upbeat and energetic. I
found a song here or there in In the Groove that I enjoyed listening to.
There are some clever steps in some of the dances in In the Groove too.
Families will most likely run across offensive lyrics in In the Groove.
This game boasts about having over 550 step patterns.
I feel like there are certainly better dance games than In the Groove. I
do like how families can get exercise with In the Groove. I also keep in
mind the era In the Groove was released in. In the Groove is before the
Xbox 360 Kinect sensor. This was the best dance technology available at
the time. There was even a special edition dance pad available for this
game back in the day.
