Monster Jam Showdown

You have no idea how many times I go into playing a video game for a live stream with no idea how many episodes it will be. Take Monster Jam Showdown for example. I thought this game would be three to maybe five live streams. After playing Monster Jam Showdown for close to an hour and a half I knew I was done and did not want to play this game again - ever. Want to know why?

My complaints against Monster Jam Showdown are we do the same things again and again. We race the same tracks over and over again. For example we will race a track and start from one spot. Then we race it again starting from another spot. Then we have a hunt race where the hunters must pass the other monster trucks. Finally we might have an elimination race. We do this in a few different areas.

Monster Jam Showdown looks nice, and has a great narrator. We race, do tricks in freestyle and more. I keep getting stuck on the wheels of other monster trucks. The assists can be more of a pain than anything at times. I would not be able to go and hit certain objects because the assists would move me away from them. I tried to make a change to the difficulty setting after playing a few races and was unable to find it.

The key to the freestyle tricks in Monster Jam Showdown are to keep that combo going. If you just keep jumping, and doing wheelies then you will be fine. Once I figured out the combo trick it was easy to get past those levels. There are some monster races that can be done against better trucks if you collect all of the tokens for a certain event type. I think Monster Jam Showdown could be beaten in three hours or less.

There is little reason to go back and replay Monster Jam Showdown unless you want to start over at a harder difficulty. The racing feels really slow unless you charge up the limited boost. Those boosts were good for spots like the jumps to hit targets in the air. I wanted to like Monster Jam Showdown so much more. Honestly I found this game to be pretty dull, and boring. The controls are usually good. At times I would fight with them.
