Popeye #3

I am so glad that I had the $3.99 to purchase a copy of the Popeye #3 comic book back in 2012. Popeye #3 is another comic book came from the rooms of one of our sons when they cleaned up their rooms and decided they did not need or want the comic books anymore. I put them in my comic book review pile and was able to get to this one. There are twenty-two pages of comic book content within Popeye #3.

The condition of this comic book is actually pretty good. There is a bit of violence, lack of attire, and references to gambling in Popeye #3. There will be spoilers in my review of the Popeye #3 comic book. Wimpy is challenged to a boxing match in Popeye #3 against the Phantom Crusher. This old man is mad at Wimpy. In fact he is sick of Wimpy and wants to get rid of him forever. If Wimpy loses he must leave the city.

Wimpy is constantly eating meat in Popeye #3. At one point Popeye #3 implies that he caught and ate a bird without cooking it. Supposedly he ate the beak in Popeye #3 too. There are feathers in the room he is in - on this boat. Popeye is trying to train Wimpy in Popeye #3. There is some humor in this comic book. Like when Wimpy accidently knocks out Bluto. Bluto came to the gym to fight Popeye. Wimpy tosses a weight to Bluto, who knocks it away. The weight bounced off a trampoline and knocks out Bluto.

Popeye is confused how Wimpy is not losing weight after all the training in Popeye #3. The thing is Wimpy just keeps on eating. His appetite is a real problem and should cost him a lot of money. Wimpy takes hamburgers whenever he can. The Phantom Crusher was a horse. How did they get a horse to stand on two legs and punch someone like a boxer. The horseshoe falls out of the glove in Popeye #3.

Popeye thinks the old man is cheating with a horseshoe in the glove and fights the Phantom Crusher. Popeye wins and the old man must provide Wimpy with hamburgers for a whole year. Wimpy releases the old man of their bargain and takes the horse to a farmer where he hopes to trade it for a cow. Wimpy could have done that and gotten free hamburgers for a year. I don't get that part.
