Robotech #0
SCORE: 70
If you have been reading the comic book reviews for some time you
know about the McKay's trip in 2023. Robotech #0 is another one of those
comic books I purchased in that trip. I am really happy to get to it in
my pile of comic books to review. Robotech #0 comes from February 2002.
Wildstorm rebooted the franchise. Initially Robotech #0 sold for $2.50.
I was able to pick it up for seventy-five cents. There will be spoilers
in my review of this comic book.
Robotech #0 has twelve pages of comic book content, then a Wildstorm
News page, eight art pages, two pages of the afterword, and finally a
page devoted to the next issue. There are advertisements found all
throughout the Robotech #0 comic book. Many of the ads in Robotech #0
are of video games. There is some enticement to lust, and lack of attire
issues in the eight pages of artwork. The main comic contains some
violent content.
Robotech #0 is to be continued in the next issue. I may have it. I may
not. I am not sure one way or the other. Robotech #0 did not do much to
impress me. This squad is out on patrol to catch some thieves. They get
ambushed and pinned down. Captain Hunter comes to their aid and saves
them. They are so happy and so thankful. Captain Hunter has to face the
music when he gets back to base though.
Why would Captain Hunter have to face the music? Well he took a
prototype to save the men. He was technically not authorized to do so. A
doctor is not happy with Captain Hunter. There is a bit of a flashback
when Captain Hunter was a kid and his brother went off to war. Their
father is a good character in my opinion. The father understands free
will, even when he disagrees with it.
The two time frames Robotech #0 are set in are 1999, and 2015. The 1999
part was the flashback. The 2015 portion of Robotech #0 is the modern
day. Man we obviously had nothing like that in our world back in 2015.
It is always interesting to look back at science fiction and see how
wrong they got it. Which makes Robotech #0 a complete fantasy science
fiction world. I actually enjoyed this really short comic book.
