Sea of Stars
SCORE: 70
A big shoutout and thank you to all of our amazing viewers on Twitch
that chilled with me while I played through Sea of Stars from start to
finish. Those live streams were converted to videos and are being
released on our video channels as time and finances allow. Multiple
viewers actually requested this game be played. At some times while
playing Sea of Stars I appreciated that request and other times I was
not into it. There will be spoilers in this review.
The issues families can have with Sea of Stars are violence, magic,
false gods, bad language, and more. At first I was not big on the battle
system within Sea of Stars. We hit enemies three times and then collect
the orbs they leave us. Then the character that collects those three
orbs can do a more powerful attack. We also have skills we can use and
they will grant the player an ultimate powerful attack once that gauge
is built. Finally we build up a combo meter for stronger attacks.
The story telling in Sea of Stars is interesting. I hated the moments
when characters would break the fourth wall and talk about RPG tropes.
Garl is an interesting character in Sea of Stars. He is a normal young
man that loses his eye being with his Solstice Warrior friends. He
actually winds up dying in Sea of Stars. There are side quests that can
be done after beating the game once to bring Garl back to life. I found
that out thanks to some research.
The battle system in Sea of Stars revolves around sort of turn based
combat. Each enemy in Sea of Stars will have a number over them telling
us how quickly they will attack. If certain attacks are done on certain
enemies before their number reaches zero then we can break their attack.
At times I was unable to do this since I needed multiple character
attacks of different weapons.
The music is okay in some areas and really good in others. There are
some very powerful and ancient characters in Sea of Stars. They all have
a certain system of rules they must follow in this video game. Battles
took longer than I would have liked and I played Sea of Stars on the
easiest difficulty setting. The worlds within Sea of Stars did not
interest me that much personally. I also never grew attached to any of
the characters.
