The Rising of the Shield Hero 13
SCORE: 69
There are certain franchises that I just devour whenever I get some
time with them. That is exactly what happened with The Rising of the
Shield Hero 13. I blew through this manga book once I had already read
two other manga books for reviews for the magazine. I have seen the
anime quite a bit past this part. I know how The Rising of the Shield
Hero will be changing. Some of those seeds can be seen in The Rising of
the Shield Hero 13.
There will be spoilers in my review of the The Rising of the Shield Hero
13 manga book. The Rising of the Shield Hero 13 contains chapters
forty-eight through fifty-three. The Rising of the Shield Hero 13 is
smaller than some of the other manga books I read. This book is around
the same as other The Rising of the Shield Hero manga books I have read.
The Rising of the Shield Hero 13 is all about the Spirit Tortoise. I am
not sure what part of this mountain is spirit though.
The issues families can have with The Rising of the Shield Hero 13 are
violence, blood, gore, magic, bad language, lack of attire, enticement
to lust, and more. Familiars are appearing and laying eggs in people.
Those people are then turned into stronger familiars for the Spirit
Tortoise. There is an interesting conversation within The Rising of the
Shield Hero 13 about whether you should loot something that is going to
be destroyed forever. Can it be saved if you are looting it?
It has been some years since I saw the anime, but I feel like there are
some definite storyline differences in The Rising of the Shield Hero 13.
The Spirit Tortoise is found with its head severed. The other three
heroes are missing. I thought a coalition had worked together to chop
off the head and then the body was searched to find the way in. The
Rising of the Shield Hero 13 has the Shield Hero visit the mountain
shell and come back. The human familiar shows up at the end of The
Rising of the Shield Hero 13. I thought she helped since the first
encounter.
I am curious to continue reading this series to see if the anime got
back on track with the manga or not. I know from talking with Peter that
plenty of manga and anime diverge on certain points in a plethora of
different series. There are some plenty gross scenes in The Rising of
the Shield Hero 13 where plenty of dead bodies are shown. The Japanese
writing that was left was a fascinating connection to the last group of
heroes.
