Transformers 2023 #1
SCORE: 61
I saw Transformers 2023 #1 at the local comic book store and got all
excited. I had missed quite a few of the IDW Publishing comic books for
Transformers and they had interesting storylines with good clean art. I
looked inside Transformers 2023 #1 and man it looked ugly. So I left it
at the comic book store. When the third issue of this series appeared at
our local comic book store I decided to purchase all three and check
this series out. There will be spoilers in this review.
Transformers 2023 #1 is dark, grity, gross and disgusting. Families will
be disturbed by the blood, violence, gore, and more within Transformers
2023 #1. At one point Starscream grabbed a human and crushes him with
his hand. There are thirty pages of comic book content within
Transformers 2023 #1. There is also a page where two people behind this
comic book talk about their history with Transformers.
We are given a few ads near the end of Transformers 2023 #1. They are
for mainly another Transformers comic book and some G.I. Joe ones. The
credits can be found on the back side of the front cover in Transformers
2023 #1. The storyline within Transformers 2023 #1 is a reboot of the
franchise and series. There are also some very depressing moments like a
drunk father neglecting his son.
Two human kids find a giant space ship around the time a Transformer
shows up to get Teletran One to bring bots back. Jetfire wakes up
Starscream with no idea there is a war going on between Autobots and
Decepticons. Starscream winds up murdering helpless bots waiting to be
revived. Optimus Prime wakes and fights off Starscream. At the same time
Optimus Prime saves those two human kids.
The Transformers are on a quest to find energon so they can revive more
of their comrades. Optimus used his trailer to get the other Autobots to
safety. It looks like Jetfire dies in Transformers 2023 #1. I remember
friends telling me in the past that Transformers could be repaired and
back to life. I do not know if this series will have that or not.
Overall Transformers 2023 #1 did not impress me.
