Deal or No Deal
SCORE: 73
I recently played with Deal or No Deal on the Nintendo DS. I did not
remember anything about the game show that Howie Mandel was the host of.
I did some research and found that back in the year of our Lord 2009 I
reviewed a Wii version of Deal or No Deal. My reactions to certain
things are a bit different. There was an ESRB descriptor on the Wii
version but not the Nintendo DS version.
There are twenty-six cases ranging from a penny to one million dollars.
Pick one for yourself, and start picking the others. The bank
representative calls in, and makes the player an offer. The higher
numbers left on the board, the more the bank is willing to offer the
player. Then decide if you want to take their offer or see if what you
have is more. There is little text in Deal or No Deal. The bankers offer
number shows on the screen, but everything the host says is audio only.
I feel like Deal or No Deal missed a real opportunity to reach the deaf
gamers out there. A deaf person will have a harder time playing Deal or
No Deal on the Nintendo DS. A lot of the phrases in Deal or No Deal are
repeated again and again. Luck and chance are the core elements of Deal
or No Deal. In the first game I played I had the briefcase with one
dollar in it, and took the bankers offer of $94,000.
Before players can even get into Deal or No Deal on the Nintendo DS
there is a message telling us we will not win any real money from
playing Deal or No Deal. I did enjoy the crowd cheering in Deal or No
Deal when things went my way. One or two family members can enjoy Deal
or No Deal on the Nintendo DS. The modes available in Deal or No Deal
are TV Game, Vault Game, and High Low.
The music is fun in Deal or No Deal. Games can last as long or as short
as you want. The player can take the offer from the banker at any time.
Once a player takes an offer they must select the remaining cases one at
a time and find out how that would impact the bankers offer. Sort of a
way to see if you should have held it longer or not. I wish there was
text on the screen for all of the voice acting personally.
