Doom #1
SCORE: 62
Thanks to the different preview magazines that are free to pick up at
the local comic book store I knew Doom was taking over the Marvel
Universe. I also knew that Doom somehow became the Sorcerer Supreme in
the Marvel Universe. I did not know how that happened. I thought Doom #1
would go over that. Sadly it does not. This comic book cost me $6.99.
There are forty-one pages of comic book content within Doom #1.
There will be spoilers in my review of the Doom #1 comic book. There are
ten art pages in Doom #1 as well. Advertisements can be found here and
there within Doom #1. I am not a fan of the art used in Doom #1. It is
more of that noisy, dirty style that looks really ugly to me. So the ten
art pages are not a bonus or a plus in my book. The issues families can
have with Doom #1 are magic, violence, bad language, false gods, and
more.
We get five pages of comic book content before the two pages of the
credits. Valerie finds Doom out in space. He is barely alive but should
not be. Doom fought against Galactus and lost. Valerie nurses her uncle
back to health in Doom #1. Valerie gives him an update on what has been
happening. In essence Galactus has destroyed pretty much everything and
everyone in the Marvel Universe.
Galactus has some device that he will use to reset the Marvel Universe
somehow. I have no clue what kinds of changes there will be. Will
Galactus just reset everything to destroy it again? Doom #1 tells us
that Galactus is no longer trying to stop his hunger. He is letting the
hunger run wild. That is why everything was destroyed. So maybe he is
putting things back to destroy them yet again. An endless cycle.
Valerie winds up sacrificing herself to destroy the machine Galactus is
using in Doom #1. That just leaves Doom and Galactus left in this Marvel
Universe. The ending of Doom #1 is really strange to me. Doom is facing
off against Galactus yet again. Can Doom win this fight? What happens if
Doom wins? What happens if Galactus wins? I found Doom #1 to be more
confusing than anything else.
