Spirited

The last piece of entertainment I got into on our two free months of Apple TV+ was Spirited. I noticed this movie when we started our two free months of the service. I had no idea that it would take until the last night to actually watch it. It takes two hours and seven minutes to watch this rather odd Christmas related movie. There will be spoilers in my review of the Spirited movie.

Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell headline Spirited. We learn all about these ghosts with foul mouths that haunt humans on Christmas Eve. They get these mean people to change their ways. They do not really challenge themselves either. They do not go after any unredeemable human beings though. That is what Ryan Reynolds play. Throughout Spirited we learn that Will Ferrell's character was actually Scrooge.

I need to let ya'll know something really interesting about Spirited. It is a musical. It sounds strange on paper, but it actually works. There are a few interesting songs within Spirited. Will Ferrell's character in Spirited can retire and become a human again. I found that really strange and borderline reincarnation. But he comes back to the human world as himself at that same age.

Spirited has some interesting twists and turns in it. In fact at times Spirited felt like it was a sequel to A Christmas Carol. The changes at the end are a bit strange to me. Will Ferrell becomes a human, gets married and has kids. Ryan Reynold dies and becomes a ghost that then becomes the ghost of Christmas present. At one point Ryan Reynold's consults with Will Ferrell on a case.

There is some woke garbage within Spirited. It is light and small. There are some funny moments in this movie as well. Spirited does a much better job of being a musical than being a comedy in my opinion. At the same time I did enjoy my time with Spirited. I thought there were some clever twists and Spirited kept me guessing until near the end. I see some what look like pirated physical copies of this movie on eBay. I hope we get a legitimate physical copy in the near future.
