Top Gun Maverick
SCORE: 72
Yolanda and I went to see Top Gun Maverick in the theaters. So there
was no rush to buy a home copy of the movie. I did purchase a copy of
Top Gun Maverick on Blu-ray recently. Top Gun Maverick has a serious
connection to the first movie. In some ways it is sad it took so long
for this movie to be made. In another way it is nice since Top Gun
Maverick is actually very pro American.
I will include spoilers in my review of the Top Gun Maverick movie. The
issues families can have with Top Gun Maverick are bad language, sex
outside of marriage, lack of attire, enticement to lust, and more.
Maverick is still in the Navy and still getting himself in trouble. Top
Gun Maverick starts out with Maverick running a test of an aircraft and
getting it to Mach 10.0. He pushes it past that threshold and the whole
machine crashes.
Maverick is being protected in his career by his old friend Iceman.
There is a lot of this movie that obsesses over the death of Goose. It
was not Maverick's fault but he never ever wants to lose anyone.
Maverick is the only active pilot with three enemy kills. Maverick is
brought back to the Top Guy school for a special really difficult
mission. Maverick is tasked with teaching these younger pilots what to
do to make this mission a reality.
Iceman dies and Maverick winds up leading the mission. All of the
students failed the test runs but Maverick showed them how to do it
after he was grounded. He earned all kinds of respect from them. Top Gun
Maverick does contain some humor as well. The students think they can
beat Maverick in the sky and bet push ups on it. Maverick beats all of
them and they are the ones doing push ups.
The son of Goose is in Top Gun Maverick. His call sign is Rooster. There
are some issues between Maverick and Rooster in Top Gun Maverick. At the
end of the day Rooster comes on the mission and they succeed. They are
against newer fighters and wind up in an even older fighter jet
themselves. They take out two more and then get saved at the end by
Hangman. There is a theme of family within Top Gun Maverick. Also flying
by how it feels and not thinking about it.
