Showcase #4
SCORE: 71
Showcase #4 is a facsimile printing. Some places show this comic book
as Showcase #4 Presenting The Flash. Showcase #4 comes to us from 1956.
Audiences are introduced to a great many things we know and love about
the Flash today. Barry Allen is The Flash in Showcase #4. There are two
stories in Showcase #4. The first story in Showcase #4 is Mystery of the
Human Thunderbolt. This story is twelve pages long.
There is a second story within Showcase #4. The second story in Showcase
#4 is called The Man Who Broke The Time Barrier. This story is ten pages
long. Advertisements can be found throughout the Showcase #4 comic book.
There are some interesting pages within Showcase #4. They are Fastest
Creatures on Earth, Wonders of Speed, and 100-Yard Dash. I love some of
these old advertisements in Showcase #4.
The issues families can have with Showcase #4 are violence, lack of
attire, enticement to lust and more. The last two are actually in
advertisements. I give you my word that the rest of this review will
include spoilers. The first story is about The Flash trying to catch The
Turtle Man. Can you guess what the slowest man on Earth is doing in
Showcase #4? He is robbing a bank. His slow nature messes up The Flash a
lot in Showcase #4.
The Flash eventually catches the criminal and the reporters want to know
his name. Showcase #4 also give the origin story for The Flash. The
second story in Showcase #4 is actually much more interesting to me.
This thief called Mazdan was caught in the future. Mazdan was tried and
convicted to live way in the future when the Earth was no longer
populated and a really bad place to be.
The time capsule messed up and sent Mazdan back in time instead. Mazdan
is robbing a bank for gold. Mazdan needs the gold to be able to shield
his time capsule to go back to the future. The Flash catches Mazdan in
Showcase #4. The Flash breaks the time barrier to bring Mazdan back to
the court. Time capsule is still back in the time of The Flash though.
Showcase #4 also introduces us to the suit coming out of a ring.
