Splatoon 3
SCORE: 63
There are a couple of reasons Splatoon 3 sat in my pile for so long.
The first reason is Peter normally worked on this franchise. The second
reason is I am not that thrilled about playing Splatoon 3. I did live
stream Splatoon 3 from the start until the end boss. I may go back and
see if I can beat it for a video. I had plenty of frustrations while
playing Splatoon 3. There are levels I gave up on. Thankfully levels can
be skipped in Splatoon 3.
There are numerous items we collect in Splatoon 3. Some of them take out
the fuzzy things that are in the way. We launch our little guy to help
fight the enemies and take out the fuzz. The inking nature of this
franchise continues. I enjoyed getting into the ink to refill the ink
meter in Splatoon 3. There are weapon power ups that can be found and
used in Splatoon 3. The bosses are challenging in Splatoon 3.
One of the reasons I am not a fan of this franchise is I like to take my
time and work my way through a game. There are areas in Splatoon 3 that
we must be very quick to survive. I also had no idea how my ink meter
was doing while firing in Splatoon 3. On top of that I could never
figure out how many hits I could take in Splatoon 3. In one boss fight I
got hit three times, and another time I was hit once. What is the
pattern?
I played the story mode since the online mode can only be played if you
are paying Nintendo a monthly fee to play online. In fact I could do
little in the main town area because it kept telling me I was offline. I
could not get different gear or upgrade equipment. Putting all of that
behind a pay wall is extremely annoying. Another reason I am not a fan
of this franchise personally.
When I did not give up and could actually progress through a challenging
section I felt more relief than anything else. Splatoon 3 did not
properly reward me for the effort put into it. The back of the case of
Splatoon 3 says to ink fast. I think that accurately depicts this game.
You need to be quick, and two control schemes did not work well with me
personally. I preferred the joystick over the motion controls. It takes
time to recharge the ink. How to be quick and recharge was my conundrum.
