Sony E3 2013 Press Conference
Cordova, TN; June 10, in the year of our Lord 2013
– Sony had their press conference announcing new games, and
going over more details on the Playstation 4.
Very glitchy presentation. Intro video of some of their
franchises.
Jack Tretton came out. He hopes to have something for everyone.
We will see. Promises to get to the PS4. First he wants to talk
about the PS Vita and PS3. The PS Vita is up first. Sixty
percent of Vita purchases are download games. PS Vita owners on
average own ten games. He promises eighty-five titles this year,
and indie developer support. Sadly there was little to nothing
for families he talked about.
Drones on about Walking Dead. A macabre and morbid title that is
ignored by intelligent gamers.
Skype and Youtube on PS Vita is discussed. Also talks about how
the Vita is a companion to the PS3 and PS4.
Now he moves on to PS3 games. Brings up a disgusting game Last
of Us. A game families avoid. Gltichy trailer is shown. This
game makes me want to throw up.
More videos are shown. These are just as bad, if not worse.
Should be AO rated.
Finally something semi-interesting – Gran Turismo 6 trailer.
Another ultra violent Batman game is coming. Sigh* Sony sure
loves all the violence, blood, bad language, enticement to lust,
and gore. He references another morbid and macabre game.
PS4 time where he promises everything to everyone. Andrew House
comes out to talk more. He shows off a big brick, err the
Playstation 4. He brings out the product designer.
Micheal Lyton came out. He drones on about the Playstation
brand.
Back to Andrew House to introduce Shu Yoshida to talk about
games on the PS4. Difficult to understand him. He plugs those
who worship social media. They have over forty titles in
development. Half to release in the launch window. He wants to
introduce a new IP to the PS4. Another lame ultra violent boring
game The Order 1886.
Teams are making progress on games announced previously in the
year. He plugs Facebook and Youtube – their pages and channels.
Video of those games is shown. Drive Club is looking pretty
good. Knack might be okay. They will be launch titles.
Wider and deeper emotions will be possible thanks to the next
generation. Shu believes this will expand the kind of stories
that can be told. Wonder what kind of Family Friendly titles
they can think of? Here comes a trailer for a new game.
The Dark Sorcerer is the name of this occultic looking game.
Families will want to avoid this hideous game. More bad language
from Sony.
Playstation prides themselves on supporting independent
developers. Here come some indie games. Adam Boyes comes out to
talk about indie games. Super Giant Games (Amir and Greg) came
out to talk about how they started and why. Transistor is their
upcoming PS4 game. Looks like this game will have some issues –
probably a 'T' for Teen rated game.
Adam talks about letting developers publish their own content.
He wants consoles to be the most open platform. Clay
Entertainment, Tribute Games, Young Horses, Switchblade Monkeys,
Ragtag Studios, Red Barrels, Odd World, and Seventeen Big Games
were all referenced. Very little for families from them though.
Diablo III is now referenced. Another franchise families flee
from.
Video from Square Enix is shown – Final Fantasy XV. Then a new
Kingdom Hearts game video is shown. Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix
is coming to the PS4. Final Fantasy XIV is coming to PS3 and
PS4.
Time again for the macabre and morbid with Assassin Creed games.
Games to definitely avoid. Speaking of games to avoid, they
brought up Watch Dogs next.
Sports games, and their authenticity is referenced. Shows a
video of what is possible on the PS4. Lebron James talks to his
digital self in NBA 2K14.
He moves on to The Elder Scrolls. A new partnership with
Bethesda Softworks to bring The Elder Scrolls Online to the PS4.
A trailer is shown. Coming Spring 2014. Maybe it will be okay,
maybe not. Not enough is shown to know at this time.
World premiere video of Mad Max. Looks pretty sick and
disgusting. Definitely want to ignore this game going forward.
Jack Tretton comes back out. He claims 140 games are in
development for the PS4. The first year should have one hundred
games. How many will be family friendly? PS4 will not restrict
used games. Big applause and a poke at Microsoft. PS4 games do
not need to be connected online to play. Another poke at the
Xbox One.
The PSN Network will be tuned to your preferences. They want to
make it the best. Play games while they are being downloaded.
Transition to a friends network, and use the Share button. PS3
membership will carry over to the PS4. If you are a PS Plus
Member, it will work on the PS3, PS Vita, and PS4. PS Plus
members will get Drive Club on the PS4 if they purchase that
device. PS Plus Members will get a new free game every month.
He has a surprise for us now from Bungie and Activision. All
about their violent first person shooters. Video for Destiny is
shown. Looks like another game families will want to run away
from as quickly as possible.
Andrew House comes back to talk about Cloud based gaming. All
Access Gaming Library is referenced. Cloud Service will be
available in 2014. PS3 games will be available on the PS4 thanks
to Gaikai. Console quality games will appear on different
devices like PS Vita, tablets, and smart phones. The Playstation
4 will be available for $399.99 dollars. Sony supports true
consumer ownership, and consumer trust.
That's all folks.
